Gravity Works offers a variety of services related to tree care.
We provide pruning services for all types of trees: fruit trees, shade trees, ornamentals and evergreens. We provide seasonal pruning as well as pruning to address a tree’s type and condition, whether it necessitates top pruning, corrective pruning, thinning, or shaping. Using proper techniques and a trained eye, we can transform a tree you once considered an eye sore into a healthier and well balanced tree again.

One of our more unique services involves planting and transplanting trees. What makes our service different is the fact that we still dig and tie our trees by hand and, if necessary, move them by hand. We possess the skill and expertise to dig out and move trees up to 4” in diameter (15–18 ft. tall). Unlike the common “one size fits all” machine method using wire baskets, we dig trees out according to their own characteristics, and tie them using materials that are 100% biodegradable. Moreover, our method allows us to relocate trees that could not otherwise be moved due to access problems or sensitivity to being improperly handled with a machine.

Tree Care
This oak tree was moved from a Scarborough backyard to its current location at Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, ON. Donated by a Toronto high school teacher, it was grown from an acorn collected from beneath an ancient Khortitsa oak, estimated to be 700-800 years old, in Khortitsa Russia. The tree from that acorn now sits as the centre piece in the Russian Mennonite Memorial Garden, a symbol of gathering for Russian Mennonites. Without our ability to dig this tree out and move it by hand, the donation could never have been made possible
